Eagles Defend Home Turf - Draw with CPA Lions

Coach Miller
In their second outing of the season, the OCS Eagles returned from fall break and jumped straight into a match on Tuesday. The Eagles welcomed CPA to campus and the HVAC Jr matchup was all that one could hope for.

The Lions scored first, halfway through the first half as a shot snuck past the defense and goalkeeper to trickle into the net. The Eagles held strong and with great defensive effort, stymied the Lions for the rest of the game. Maylon S. in goal had numerous saves, with Dhilan C., Connor M., Audrey G., and others marshalling the back line.

In the second half, the front line of the Eagles turned up the pressure, with Sophie S., Lawrence L., George S., and Quinn S. all ready to challenge the Lions backline. Multiple breakaway opportunities came close but couldn't find their way past the Lion goalkeeper. Until 12 minutes to go, when after a period of sustained pressure the ball found its way to Quinn S. who took a shot that was blocked, but as it came back to him, his set-up touch was good enough to find space to slam a shot from past 18 yards out that swerved its way to the keeper who could only get a touch on the ball as it found the back of the net.

From there the Eagles defense held strong and a few other opportunities came for both teams, but the match played out to a 1-1 draw.

The first points of the year for the Eagles after a tough battle with Covenant before fall break means the Eagles gear up for an away matchup with Lipscomb Academy on Thursday, October 24. The Eagles return home on Tuesday the 29th to face off against St. Paul Christian Academy.
